Mullewa
is the gateway to the Murchison Goldfields 450 km north of Perh (100
km east of Geraldton). There is a number of historic places worth seeing
in Mullewa. Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Sts Peter and Paul
(pictured) has been classified by the National Trust as a historic site.

Tallering
Peak (453 m) and Gorge are 56 km north (there is a turn to the left
from Carnarvon-Mullewa Rd). Midwest iron and steel project was supposed
to commence there in 2001 but only in 2003 we've heard about it again.
Before, the area was fenced and some rather weathered warnings about
blasting were displayed all over the place and we hadn't seen a soul
during our two visits there. Mining has finally commenced in 2005, so
please contact the Shire Office for information, as some areas pictured
below may not be accessible at the moment.
Please leave the gates as you find them. And if you look under a rock just behind the gate to the right you might even find 50 cents hidden there by us ten years ago. Last time we'd checked it was still there. There is an old mining tunnel through the mountain, but it looks uninviting with wet roof and bleak creepy-crawlies on the walls and going into it for more than ten metres is very unadvisable.
