Ayupan are apparently designed by Ayumi Hamasaki herself and rumour has it that they are named like that because Ayumi thinks they look like a panda. They are small plastic figurines that are 'cartoon' version of Ayumi, wearing the clothes that have been worn by her in different videos. There are also four 'dog' Ayupans based on real life pets - Maron, Crea, Purin and Vanilla.

Previously animated version of Ayupan has appeared in music videos, - in 'Trauma' and 'independent' and in 2003 nineteen-episode cartoon series were aired on TV.
