Nambung National Park, known as Pinnacles is located 19 km south of
Cervantes. Limestone formations rise out of the sand like dragon's teeth
and Dutch sailors, seeing them from the sea, thought they were ruins
of an ancient city. Sunsets are absolutely fantastic there.
What are they? These are the skeletal remains of trees that grew thousands of years ago, before being engulfed and chocked to death by invading sands. As sand dunes move, calcified and silicified pinnacles appear. Please click on the image to enlarge it. |
